A coach is someone that not only takes time to see you, but also hears you, and above all understands you. Understanding comes from positive relationship building. Like a teacher, a coach must consider all of the baggage that an athlete comes with, the good and the bad. The holistic approach to coaching is the only way to truly engage and develop an athlete physically, mentally, and emotionally. Resilience comes from struggle and challenges. Challenges are meant to be overcome; if not, resilience would not be a thing. The right coach can support the process of resilience and push you to be your best self without breaking you physically, mentally, and/or emotionally. The mind, body, and heart need to work together in order to build the most resilient and successful athlete. Running is one of those sports that can break our hearts at times and the best thing for a heart that needs healing is family. With family and the proper support systems in place, anything is possible.
